Brief Résumé for
David B. Shaw, Ph.D.
Academic:
Dr. Shaw completed his BA in Psychology from the College of Wooster in
Wooster, Ohio in 1979, graduating with departmental honors. Next he went
on to the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at Texas Tech University in
Lubbock, Texas, graduating with a Ph.D. degree in 1986. Dr. Shaw then went
on to serve as a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine, and as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the
Medical College of Pennsylvania (now the Drexel University School of
Medicine).
Professional:
Dr. Shaw has had a private practice since 1987 located in the Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania area and recently relocated to Hampton, Virginia. Dr. Shaw
was the Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology Internship at
Allegheny General Hospital where he also served as the Coordinator of
Outpatient Psychological Services. He has also served as a staff Clinical
Psychologist in the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System, and more recently at
the Hampton VA Medical Center.
Research:
Dr. Shaw has been a Prinicipal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on
funded research projects and has been an author or co-author on numerous
book chapters and journal articles. He has also served as a reviewer for
grant-funded research proposals.
